The Duskbloods CNT Requirements
Hardware, Nintendo Switch Online, age gating, and region or language rules for The Duskbloods Closed Network Test.
Why requirements are strict
The Duskbloods Closed Network Test is an online PvPvE trial on Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of the game’s planned 2026 release. Nintendo and FromSoftware gate access because the build is unfinished, confidential, and limited to players who can reliably connect across scheduled August 21–23, 2026 sessions. Missing any requirement below typically blocks download, login, or matchmaking even if you applied correctly during July 22–28, 2026.
Use this page as the master reference, then run the CNT checklist tool before preload on August 18, 2026. Cross-link to how to apply for selection follow-up and the schedule guide for session timing.
Hardware: Nintendo Switch 2
You must play on Nintendo Switch 2. The CNT build is not offered for original Switch models or other platforms—The Duskbloods is a Switch 2 exclusive title. Ensure firmware is updated before preload so eShop downloads and online features behave predictably.
Free enough storage for the test client plus any patch Nintendo ships between August 18 and your first session. Keep the console docked or charged if you plan multi-hour blocks; each official window lasts four hours, and abruptly powering down mid-match hurts both your rewards and server telemetry.
Accounts: Nintendo Account and NSO
An active Nintendo Account linked to the Switch 2 user profile you play on is mandatory. The same account should have submitted the July application; swapping users after August 7, 2026 selection is a common failure point.
Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) must be active for the account entering matchmaking. Renew family or individual membership before August 21 and confirm the subscribing account matches the player profile—not a sibling profile without its own entitlement.
Age requirement: 17+
Participants must be 17 years of age or older. The CNT is not open to younger players even with parental supervision on a family group. Nintendo uses age gating to align with test agreements and regional policy.
Internet and online stability
A stable internet connection is required for hub access and eight-player Bloodsworn battles. Wired ethernet through the dock, or strong Wi-Fi with minimal packet loss, reduces disconnects that waste your four-hour window.
Mobile hotspot tethering can work but often triggers NAT issues; if matchmaking fails repeatedly, test another connection before blaming server maintenance—though always check official status posts too.
Region and language must match
Your region and language settings must match your Nintendo Account territory when you apply and when you play. Nintendo explicitly instructs applicants to verify Country/region when linking accounts. A US account on a profile set to a different storefront region is one of the most frequent redemption errors.
If you recently moved countries, update Nintendo Account country settings only through official Nintendo support processes—do not create duplicate accounts to bypass territory limits, or you may lose CNT access tied to the July application.
Software setup before sessions
After August 18 preload:
- Launch the CNT icon from the home menu—not a stale demo ticket from a different account.
- Accept any test agreements Nintendo presents on first boot.
- Enter the hub area to confirm blood customisation menus load.
- Review role paths such as Destined Rivals and Destined Companion in Bloodsworn so you spend less time in menus once sessions open.
Inside matches, Victory Points determine outcomes and dynamic events may change environments and rewards. Rewards apply after wins or losses, so finish matches instead of quitting early unless official rules say otherwise.

Troubleshooting checklist
Cannot redeem download code. Re-check region alignment and that you are signed into the applying Nintendo Account on Switch 2.
NSO error on matchmaking. Renew membership, reboot console, verify the active user is the subscriber.
Age blocked at login. Only qualifying 17+ profiles may participate; create no workaround child accounts.
Schedule confusion. Convert PDT windows with the session timezone tool—requirements do not matter if you miss the server window entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers drawn from official Network Test and Creator’s Voice details.
What console do I need for the CNT?
You need Nintendo Switch 2. The Duskbloods is a Switch 2 exclusive and the Closed Network Test does not run on the original Switch.
Is Nintendo Switch Online mandatory?
Yes. An active NSO membership on the playing Nintendo Account is required for online hub access and PvPvE matchmaking during test sessions.
What is the minimum age to participate?
Players must be 17 or older. Younger family members cannot substitute for a qualifying adult profile on this test.
Why must region and language match my account?
Nintendo ties CNT access to territory settings. Verify Country/region when linking accounts—details are on this page and in [how to apply](/network-test/how-to-apply/).
What should I verify before August 21 sessions?
Run the [CNT checklist](/tools/cnt-checklist/), confirm preload after August 18, and read the [schedule](/network-test/schedule/) for your local session times.
